GroupM Appoints Jesper S. Jørgensen as New, Nordic COO

GroupM has just appointed Jesper S. Jørgensen as it’s new, Nordic COO. In his new role, Jørgensen will lead the continued Nordic transformation of the agency group.

We’ve achieved considerable success and are eager to propel this initiative even further – focusing on becoming even more client-centric in the Nordic region and capitalizing on the vast opportunities in AI and data,” says Jonas Hemmingsen, Nordic CEO of GroupM. He adds, “To spearhead these efforts, we’ve appointed Jesper S. Jørgensen as the Nordic COO for our Group.”

Jesper, who has led EssenceMediacom in Denmark for the past four years, brings a diverse background as a former Partner at the Danish agency Hjaltelin Stahl (now Accenture Song) and seven years at Wunderman Thompson. His diverse marketing experience positions him to challenge our mindset as we move forward.

Jesper comments, “The transition from a traditional Media Agency to a Marketing Service Organization is well underway for GroupM Nordics and our agencies – EssenceMediacom, Wavemaker, Mindshare, and Acceleration. My primary focus is on leading this transformation, reshaping our agency operations to provide an even more seamless and client-focused experience. I am dedicated to building a people-led culture and fostering robust team relationships across borders. Having witnessed firsthand, during my time at EssenceMediacom, the incredible outcomes when talented minds collaborate, we are now prepared to fully leverage our collective capabilities across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. I am genuinely excited to embark on this journey as a member of the Nordic management team.

It has almost been four years since Jesper S. Jørgensen took on the role as CEO of Mediacom Denmark, which later merged with sister agency Essence to form EssenceMediacom. With a vision to transform the traditional media agency into a more digital and creative entity, the agency has achieved remarkable results in recent years.

To continue the agencies’ further development, GroupM has appointed Tina Gretlund as the new CEO of EssenceMediacom Denmark. Tina has until now assumed the role of Chief Strategy & Insights Officer and has been an integral part of the agency’s management team for the past four years.

Jesper s. Jørgensen says about the change in management; “I am very proud to be able to hand over the responsibility to Tina Gretlund. Tina has been an integral part of the agency’s transformation since 2020, where the results include a 40% increase in revenue, a fourteen-fold improvement of the bottom line, a significantly increased customer satisfaction score, and a tripling of employee satisfaction“.

Tina has a fantastic, strategic mindset, she is incredibly strong in building client relations and she understands the value of investing in culture and talent development. I have thoroughly appreciated our collaboration and I am sure that the agency will be in good hands,” continues Jesper S. Jørgensen.
